Date: Thursday April 17, 2014
Location: The Blue Moose Tap House, Iowa City
In the spring, over a decade ago, law students John Norris, Jay Byers, Doug O’Brien and David Hayes began LawLawPalooza on the front lawn of their house. It was a rainy day, but the law school bands kept playing their music, with dozens of friends and fellow students, through the fog, and until the early morning. A few hundred dollars were raised that day and donated to a women’s shelter. From that point forward, the money from this event has been used for EJF public clerkship grants.
LawLawPalooza features alumni bands, current law students and friends of the law school community who donate their musical talents every year to help raise money. Previous year’s acts have involved folk music, soft and hard rock, and rap as well as the occasional impromptu cover band comprised of audience members. This event is open to the general public and is certain to entertain. Whether you are a law student or simply in the area for the night, swing by and attend LawLawPalooza.
If you or someone you know is interested in performing, or if you would like to help EJF on the night of the event, please contact LawLawPalooza Chairperson Chris Brubaker at firstname.lastname@example.org.
